Comisionado Woodrow Heard estuvo presente para pedir mas explicación sobre el asunto que se había discutido en un comité formado por John Harrell y Bill Mitchell representando a la ciudad y los Comisionados Norment Foley y Wood representando al condado. The general concensus of the council was that the county would not have to pay outright to obtain 50 percent ownership, providing the relinquishing of title to the county was legal. The City and the County, it was proposed, could then begin by contributing $25,000 each per year, for capital improvements. This money could be used as local contribution in a future application for an FAA grant to keep our airport in good operating condition, Harrell suggested. Following a request that City Attorney Phil Hughes check into the legality of joint ownership and an investigation of nearby communities with similar situations, the council gave Commissioner Heard a general agreement that the City was willing to work with the County in joint ownership of the Other stipulations to the agreement were that the pens west of existing “T” hangar should be removed; that the city should continue to mow around runway, taxiways and lights, and put the remainder “haying” up for bids and also place 2 inch asphalt on 15-33 r for a total of 10,222d square feet from the north to the south end of the proposed “T” hangar.
