Mammogram Exams Important

I am writing to urge all women to get mammograms regularly, even if you don't think you have any reason to suspect cancer. I especially want to reach out to all Hispanic women. Cancer occurs in women whether its in her family or not; 80 percent of the women who get breast cancer have never had it in their family. I was one of the that 80 percent.
Mammograms are very uncomfortable but not painful and can save your life.
I was told five years ago that I had breast cancer and have had a mastectomy. I was very angry at first because I had lost of part of me, something that was special. But its ok to have those kinds of feelings. I had to put up with people looking at me up and down after I told them about my surgery. Then it hit me. Why should I be angry? It did not take a part of me that was a necessity. I could understand if cancer had taken a leg or an arm or even an eye. Now those arc a necessity. But a breast, well God gave us those as a luxury. They are of no use except to make us look good.
I have been wearing a prosthesis for five years and have no problems. What counts is what makes you feel good and I have always felt good about myself.
I went through almost seven months of chemotherapy. I was one of the lucky ones that did not have side effects I did lose some hair and I wore a wig for along time. I recommend that you do exactly what your doctor tells you. Drink plenty of water and eat your three meals while going through your treatments. I felt weak and tired but I still would think positive.
Families of cancer patients need to be supportive. If it was riot for my family who was there for me, I would have gone down hill. Its important , too, to have a positive attitude. I was scared at first but I never doubted for one minute that I was going to

beat cancer. I was determined that cancer was not going to get the best of me.
Here it is, five years later, and I am cancer free and can truly say I feel great. If we have a positive attitude, we can accomplish anything. I am living proof that it's true.

I feel for the people presenting their grievances against Mr. Watkins and I want to be fair to them, but I believe statements made were not all factual.

All those taxpayers and parents who do not take the time to find out just how our tax dollars are being spent are simply saying: "Here's my hard earned money. Spent it as you will. Teach only what and how you want to teach. Spread out the salaries as you wish, regardless of how much is done in return. I don't have time to ask questions now. (or) I don't want to be inconvenienced or embarrassed so I won't be asking any questions. Do as you will." We don't do that with the rest of our money, why do we do this with our tax dollars?
