The U.C.I.S.D. Tax office reports that on Sept. 1, 1979 the district has collected a total of $1,426,431.06 out ot a total combined tax roll for 1978 of $1,455,718.88. The unpaid balance were turned over on July 1. to Gates y Steen for Collec-

in the Fiesta Committee Float in the Annual Diez y Seis Grand Parade on Saturday, Sept. 15. On Sunday evening, Sept. 16, she will crown the new queen at Jardin de Heroes
Park.
Miss Ballesteros is a 1978 graduate of Uvalde High School and attended Southwest Texas Junior College.

Despues de algunos dias de incertidumbre (uncertainty) la organización EMS del Condado de Uvalde, quien presta servicios medicos de emergencia voto el pasado jueves por la noche seguir adelante. La junta, que tuvo lugar en Sabinal y a la cual asistió la miem-

Sound of Music At Ingram
As a grand finale to the musical-drama season at
the Point Theatre in
Ingram, the Kerrville Community Chorus will present six performances of the fantastically popular musical, ‘The Sound of Music.'' The Northcutt Society of Uvalde will sponsor a bus trip to Ingram for one performance of this outstanding musical production on Friday, September 7th.

Otherwise, seats for individuals are on a first-come, first-claimed basis. The Northcutt Society has forty reserved seats made possible through the president of First National Bank in
Kerrville. These are available to any person in Uvalde County area who would like to go along for what will surely be a pleasurable evening at the Point Theatre.

The Northcutt Society sponsored three bus trips to the Point Theatre last summer, all well attended by Uvalde area citizens. Participants on this trip are advised to bring a sack or box supper aboard the bus for dining while enroute to Ingram. Soft drinks and coffee will be available on the bus at a nominal charge.

Pizza Huts Gather Donations for
Kidney Foundation
Donating for a worthy cause can be fun too. That was the idea started by Tammy Naples, local manager of the Pizza Hut when she began a “contest" between the Pizza Huts in Hondo, Pleasanton, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde, to see which one would collect more donations for the South Texas Kidney Foundation.
Last Tuesday Mrs. Naples and the Pizza Hut were able to present the winning total, $262.76 to Jackie Simon of the local Kidney Foundation Chili Fest Committee in Uvalde.
As if that were not enough the local restaurant will be donating $2 off every large pizza sold on Friday, Sept. 7, during open hours and will also be donating pizzas for the Chili Fest Auction.
The Second Annual Uvalde Chili Fest begins Saturday, September 8 at the City Fairgrounds. The admission and parking is free. Many intriguing contests have been slated such as a “Pig Calling
