Money is getting about as scarce as hen's teeth. A big automotive company, like Chrysler, had to go on welfare, and now a 95-pound weakling, Iran, is shaking his fist at Uncle Sam. It's enough to make a preacher have nightmares. The one 1 had the other night was in living color and without commercials. In case there's a head-shrinker in the audience. I thought it might be a good thing to pass my nightmare along. (I 've had the same one three times, and I understand that has some deep hidden meaning.)
1 dreamed that the world was inhabited by monkeys of all sizes, shapes and colors. Now being monkeys, they were always monk e y i n g around with one another. One tribe of monkeys invented the monkey mobile, and factories to make the little machines. But in order to run all their mechanical devices, these monkeys had to import the coconut juice. The tribe with the coconut juice was called Ocpec. (Organization of Coconut-Juice Producing Export Cartel.) Well, this went along pretty good until a religious monkey came to power, and said that he didn't like all them other monkeys using up all the coconut juice. To prove his point he looked up all the monkey-mobile folks who were over there on vacation. That move scared the consumers of coconut juice. The religious monkeys said. “No more coconut juice.'" Not to be out-done, the monkey-mobile hairy-ones said, “Keep your cotton-picking coconut juice.'' Phen one night duripg the stand-off. a tornado came through and destroyed all the coconut trees, 'fhe very next day, a monkey down in Texum discovered oil to run their machines. And they all said, “Thank whatever, we don't have that coconut juice problem any more."

Dear Dr. Esse: I am 29 and plan to get married and have children. I'm concerned about the need for getting shots to protect me against German measles. As my parents both died when I was young, 1 am not certain whether or not 1 received immunization against measles.
Do I really need them at my age? Is German measles likely to occur when one is in her 80s? If so. is now a good time to get vaccinated? I know of a case in which a friend's first baby was born deformed because she had an attack of measles while she was three months pregnant. — Miss S.
Dear Miss S.: No age is exempt from an attack of rubella. Often people are ex posed to it while at work, or while visiting or being visited by youngsters who have the infection.
Therefore, the answer is YES. Talk it over with your doctor about receiving immunization shots. It’s important to know if you have already been exposed to rubella and have developed protective antibodies to the disease.
If blood tests reveal that you are unprotected, your doctor will make certain that he doesn't immunize you while you are pregnant. To play safe, at least three months before you expect to be.
Most people now know that the greatest danger to the fetus is having the disease, or receiving the rubella vaccine, during the first two or three months of pregnancy. There’s danger if you become pregnant within three months after being immunized.
You are wise, Miss S., in being concerned about rubella protection before marriage.

Immediately following the signing of the easements, which took place on Dec. 21, 1979, on the three floodwater retarding Structures north of Uvalde, officials of the Soil Conservation Service in Temple were notified by phone.
Jimmy Hill, Assistant State Conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service, who has responsibility for Flood Control Programs was notified as to the successtul completion of this phase of the program.
There were originally 4 dams planned for construction but some months back, the County Commissioners received permission from the Soil Conservation Service to defer action on Site 4 which protects residents and lands along Taylor Slough.
The City of Uvalde is currently nearing completion of it’s responsibility of securing easements along Cooks Slough, to allow for construction of the Channel.
The Soil Conservation Service will now schedule it’s Core Drill Units to come out and make

Priority will be placed on construction of sites 2 (Boone Slough) and Site 3 (Leona River mainstem) with the top priority being Site 3. Final plans for sites 2 and 3 should be completed around July 1 if all goes as planned. Specifications for the jobs will de developed at that time and shortly thereafter, invitations for bids will be sent to all contractors who wish to bid can do so by contacting the Soil Copnservation Service in Temple, Texas around the first of August of 1980. As things now stand, bids for Site 3 and possibly Site 2 should be opened the last of September of 1980 with construction starting after October 1, 1980.

Getting your money's worth
electric companies are required to make an audit on request; in Wisconsin only the gas utilities are so required. The New York State audits cost $10; it’s free in the other states. A federal program to take effect around the end of 1980 will require that all but the smallest utility companies make audits, and also arrange for installation and financing of energy-saving materials. Heating-oil suppliers may also be included in the program.
There are two kinds of audits. One is the Class B audit, where you fill out a form covering basic information about your house — size, construction, condition of doors and windows. type of heating plant, and so on. Back comes a computerized printout listing the ways you can cut your energy costs, what the work will cost and about how long it will take for the work to pay for itself in lower utility bills.

He knows where and how to search for air leaks, how to evaluate the furnace's efficiency, where you need caulking or insulation. He’ll estimate the cost of tightening up your house, recommend the most efficient materials.
