Musical groups from various parts of the state will perform at the 7th Annual Sacred Heart Parish Festival scheduled for Sunday May 27, 1979 on the church grounds. Musical entertainment will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM, according to Miss Concha Vasquez, who emcees the musical events. Dance is from 8:00 PM to 12:00 PM. Groups that will perform include: Rosita Ornelas; Pedro Villarreal and “The Latin Heart” of Pharr, Tex.; La Maquina de Jose Aguilera; The Country Boys-Jay McGuffin; Mrs. Teresa Maldonado Bailes Folklóricos; Laura Canales con Felicidad; Victor Garza - “Los Peppers” Joe Bravo and the Latin Breed; Hot Tamale; Super Jets and Carlos Guzman; El Dueto Norteño; The Out Laws-Vale Rodri- The activities of the day will begin with a breakfast sponsored by the Guadalupanos. A beef barbecue dinner will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until 2:00 PM. Tickets are $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children. An auction will be held between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. Items include antiques, electrical appliances and furniture. These items will be sold to the highest bidder by auctioneer Theo Janysek of San Antonio. He has served as auctioneer for the past 6 years. A spokesman for the festival event said this week that the festival would be “the biggest and best” than in previous years.
