A toddler is a bundle of energy at all times. He never stops wiggling, moving or investigation unless he is asleep. (He will always refer to a boy or a girl toddler). What are toddlers (18 months to 3 years) like??? Toddlers are curious. They like to feel, touch, move and bite every object they can reach or find whether it is a bug or sandwich. They are always on the move. They walk, they run, they stoop, they climb, they lift. They are always learning something new. Be sure to give them opportunities to do these activities. They are imitators. They want to do what mother is doingplaying with pots and pans, brushing teeth, sweeping. It is important that they be around father to imitate his activities as well. They like to be independent at times. They say "No" to mother. They want to do things their way. This is how they learn to do things on their own. They are shy. They are slow in warming up to strangers. Give Town House RESTAURANT A family place to eat 2105 E. She is interested in the world outside her home. She runs easily and freely, climbs and jumps, and she handles a tricycle well, (she refers to a girl or boy prescholler). What are preschoolers (3 to 5 years) like??? Preschoolers try to do all the daily routine activities-dressing, undressing, toileting, washing, and eating. Some assistance is needed to help them with the hard places and to suggest the next step. This age group admires their parents. They want to be like them, do what they do, and wear what they wear. A child feels warm and friendly toward his parents. Preschoolers are very imaginative. They are not sure where real begins and unreal ends. Their dolls, blocks, and toys are for all kinds of imaginative play. Be sure they can be creative in their play-have available cardboard boxes, tin Friday & Saturday, Breakfast Buffet Menudo - 10 pm - 3 am By Jane Chavez cans, used clothing for costumes, dolls, pots and pans, etc. They are also interested in things outside their home. They enjoy talking to others and doing things with them. They still need some help learning to lake turns and playing fair. Preschoolers use language very skillfully. They like to learn new words and try different sounds. They ask thousands of questions to get information. They talk in order to get what they want, to direct their play, and to solve their problems. They enjoy hearing stories, songs or music. They listen for pleasing sounds and new words, and they enjoy the rhythm of them. They sing loudly and like to sing the same songs over and over. And they like to make up their own songs. They like to do new things. They accept new ideas, but then many times return to their familiar play. Many a new toy is played with for a short time and then it is left on the shelf. This age group likes to make things. They make them out of cloth, paper, wood, clay, and many other materials. They like to use tools like scissors, crayons, hammers, and rulers. They are proud of what they can do. Preschoolers with their boundless energy need plenty of rest. Usually, they don't like to stop their many play activities to rest. As a parent, help your young child to develop by giving him or her the opportunity to participate in all these activities.
