Como los estudiantes, los profesores también necesitan nuestro apoyo...
Sé que hay muchos maestros buenos en Uvalde que todavía tienen las calidades de los maestros que yo tiíve cuando asistf a las escuelas de Uvalde. Los que sonríen mucho, que enseñan con entusiasmo y dedicación; las que mantienen sus salones de clase interesantes, limpios, organizados; los que tomaron sus estudios de colegio seriamente y ahora tienen mucho que ofrecer a los estudiantes. Debemos de reconocer a estos maestros. Debemos de quererlos mucho porque ellos verdaderamente se preocupan por el futuro de nuestros niños.
Con mucho valor...
Con mucho valor debemos revisar muy bien a esos administradores y maestros que no están haciendo su trabajo eficientemente. Asi como un amo despide a una persona que no esta haciendo el trabajo asignado, asi también tenemos que preguntar si es logico el mantener personal que no contribuye al triunfo de los estudiantes y que son irresponsables con nuestro dinero de impuestos. Estos dias es muy difícil ganaros la vida. El dinero que pagamos en impuestos escolares ha sido ganado con el sudor en nuestra frente, los callos en nuestras manos y la tension que todos tenemos que sobrellevar en nuestros trabajos. Tenemos que recibir un servicio justo por el valor de nuestro dinero en todo lo que compramos. La educación es simplemente otra comodidad que compramos. Tenemos que insistir el mejor comportamiento de todos a quienes le pagamos sus salarios con nuestro dinero de impuestos.
El sindroma de David contra Goliat...
El proyecto ante nosotros es enorme. Como nos vamos a cambiar a nosotros mismos de ser tan complacientes a ser contrarios y desconformes? Sí, eso es lo que tenemos que hacer. Tenemos que dejar de aceptar las cosas como están y estar opuestos a la manera en que nuestros hijos estañ siendo educados porque existen muchos problemas. En mi punto de vista, entre mas grande la tarea, mas grande la victoria. ¿Que dice usted? Acompañara usted a El Uvalde Times en crear un cambio positivo en nuestro querido pueblo? Vamos a ver esto cómo un comienzo de raizes muy cerca a la tierra, desde lo más básico, la gente, (grassroots) un movimiento para cambiar el sistema escolar para el mejoramiento de todos nosotros. De uno a uno, vamos platicando de todo esto, para empezar la campana mas grande de padres y ciudadanos del pueblo que jamaz hayamos visto.

Mientras que algunos de nosotros apenas ahorita nos estamos juntando para mejorar la calidad de educación en Uvalde, hay gente que ya esta trabajando mas aya de su obligación en esta tarea. Mi hermana Gracie pasa muchas largas horas de trabajo tratando de ayudar a la mayor cantidad de estudiantes posible a que se queden en la escuela. Ella esta viendo cara a cara los problemas que tantos niños enfrentan antes de llegar a la escuela. Gracias, Gracie, por todo lo que tu has hecho para crear atención y respuesta a un trabajo enorme.
f	Tenemos buen personal
Se daran cuenta que tenemos muchos escritores y que vendrán muchos mas. Todos tenemos diferentes estilos e ideas que contribuir, pero nuestra meta común sera la de mejorar la calidad de vida en nuestro pueblo. Animamos a otros a que nos ayuden a desarrollar un club literario para que las generaciones del futuro se den cuenta de como fueron nuestras vidas y lo que hicunos para su bienestar. El Uvalde Times quiere ser el vehículo para muchos escritores. Acompáñenos:

La mesa directiva por fin escucho a los padres y voto encontra de la segregación (division de alumnos por vecindad y así por raza), adoptó al contrario un plan de acomodamiento de alumnos propuesta por una madre, la Sra. Beatriz Garcia. Bea (Bi) va a ser una de nestras escritoras. Felicidadez, Beatrice y Gilberto y a todos los padres que hicieron escuchar sus voces en la tribuna Ubre que tuvo lúgar para discutir la propuesta agrupación.

like to invite everyone that likes to write to help me put together a book about our people. We shall call it “En Aquellos Tiempos,” (During Those Days) and in it we will write short stories we want to remember and print the old photographs that must be preserved. The book will be dedicated to the late Mr. Alfredo Ybarra, who wrote such stories in the original El Uvalde Times at the age of 83.”
“Because our staff is small,” says the newspaper’s business manager Maria Gonzales, “we hope you will understand that we cannot always be present at some important events. We do encourage the various organizations and agencies to provide us with news releases. The newspaper will be printed monthly on the second Saturday of every month, and the deadline for each pubheation will be the previous Saturday. We will try to accommodate urgent items but your cooperation and understanding is needed.”
The regular writers include the editor, Rogelio Luevano, Geronimo and Jane Chavez, Gracie Romo, Richard Gonzales, Richard Flores, Beatrice Garcia, Dr. Gloria Gutierrez from San Antonio and many other people who have already offered to write. “We are very fortunate in having such professionals and dedicated friends join us this time around. Uvalde and the surrounding communities we will serve stand to benefit a great deal from their contributions.”
“The response from so many businesses to advertise in this first issue has been trememdous, says Rodriguez, Its so encouraging for my husband Richard and I to find so many friends, so many supporters. We thank you for all the smiles and all the welcome you have given us. We must remain in San Antonio since we have a daughter in college and that is a financial obligation we cannot risk. However, living in San Antonio provides me with access to news sources and ideas that we can present in Uvalde so there is a positive side to that. With so many qualified people now willing to write, we are going to make a difference in the way our children are being taught and together we can develop solutions to the many problems facing us today.”

A Will is an instrument by which a person makes disposition of his property, to take effect on his death, and which, in its own nature, is subject to change and revocable during his Hfetime. It is merely an expression of the desire of and the direction by the person as to what shall be done with his property when he dies.
As used in the Texas Probate Code, the term “will” includes a codicil, a testamentary instrument that merely appoints an executor or a guardian, and a testamentary instrument that merely revokes another Will.
To be effective as a Will, an instrument must be testamentary character. This depends on the intention with which the writing was executed, rather than on its form. The instrument must nevertheless contain language indicating the person’s intention to make an effective disposition of his property on his death.
A writing is not a Will unless it is subject to change and revocable by the person at any time during his Ufe. And this is true even though the writing itself purports to be a WiU.
An instrument is testamentary if it operates to transfer the maker’s property on his death and not before that time. A WiU is a means of transferring title to property, and it forms the basis of the right of those who are named as beneficiaries in the will.
A WiU takes effect not on the date of its execution, but on the death of the person, at which time title to the devised property passes to those named in the WiU. It is said that a WiU “speaks” as of the date of the person’s death, it has no effect during his Ufetime. A person who is competent to make a WiU may devise and bequeath aU the estate, right, title, and interest in possession, expectancy reversion, or remainder, that he has, or at the time of his death shaU have, of, in, or to any lands, tenements, hereditaments, or rents charged on or issuing out of them, or shaU have of, in, or to any personal property whatever, including chose in action, subject to the limitations prescribed by law.
Both husband and wife may by WiU dispose of their interest in the common property. But neither may dispose of more than one-half of the community property, and this is true even though the surviving
