Empezando el lunes, 5 de Febrero todos los ñiños del Distrito Escolar Consolidado Independiente de Uvalde que han estado pagando 20 centavos por su comida de precio reducido ahora pagaran 10 centavos.
Recientes revisiones cambiaron el cobro máximo por los alimentos reducidos. No se cobrara mas de diez centavos a cualquier estudiante que este participando en el programa de alimentos reducidos.
El cabo máximo para el almuerzo queda igual, a diez centavos.
Se les recuerda a los padres que pueden aplicar para alimentos gratuitos o a precio reducido para sus hijos, a cualquier tiempo del ano escolar. La aplicación necesaria se puede adquirir de los principales de cada escuela.
Durante el mes de Diciembre el distrito escolar de Uvalde sirvió alimentos a un promedio diario de 2,928 estudiantes. La matricula a ese tiempo era de 4,778 alumnos, lo que significa que 61% de los estudiantes participan en el programa de alimentos escolares.

Council for recruitment, testing and certification of its employees. The suit alleged that the Merit Council utilized tests and employment standards which have a disproportionately adverse impact on blacks and Hispanics and females as compared to white Anglo males.
In the settlement, the Department of Human Resources has agreed to establish hiring and promotional goals designed to increase the number of blacks and Hispanics employed by the state agency.
Included in the settlement is a provision to provide “supplementary certification” to blacks and Hispanics not scoring sufficiently on Merit System examinations to be interviewed. “Supplementary certificates” will be issued when it has been determined that ethnic minorities are not represented adequately in certain job categories as compared to the relevant labor force.
For each DHR job vacancy, candidates for job interviews are selected from the top ten scoring applicants on the applicable Merit System examination in that geographic area. In situations where ethnic minorities are not adequately represented in a particular DHR job category, supplementary certificates will be issued to raise the number of blacks and Hispanics to be interviewed.
The Department of Human Resources’ San Antonio Region employs 1313 persons, of which 53.6% are Hispanics, 4.5% are black and 40.9% are Anglo. The region is comprised of twenty-one South Texas counties.
A second aspect of the
settlement involves current and past employees and job applicants who felt they were party to discriminatory hiring or promotional practices. Panels consisting of representatives of DHR, the Texas Attorney General and the U.S. Justice Department will be formed
to hear the complaints and to offer specific relief in the form of compensation, priority hiring and promotional consideration or modification of personnel records for those persons it determines were actually discriminated against.
