JOHN PAUL B ARRIVES AT SACRED HEART SCHOOL: Rev. David Zumaya blesses the portrait of John Paul II that was presented to the catholic school by Mrs. Olga Rodriquez, editor of El Uvalde Times. Witnessing the ocasslon were the principal of the school, Sister Isabel Ordono and Mrs. Rodriquez. The portrait will be a rememberance of Pope John Paul B’s visit to Chicago on Oct. 4th and 5th and at which Mrs. Rodriquez attended.

The annual Knippa Harvest Festival will be held this year on Friday evening, October 19, at the Knippa School at 8:00 p.m. During this event, the Queen of the Harvest Festival will be crowned by retiring Queen, Lou Ann Bedenbender. The queen candidates are Brenda Niemeyer, Anita Merritt, Leslie Ryan, Vicki Smith, and Lorena Guajardo.
Following the corona tion, the Knippa student: will present a program fo: the entertainment of th< Queen and her Court. Immediately after the pro gram, a carnival will b( held on the schoo grounds, all high schoo classes will have a monej making activity, everyone is invited to attend. Admission to the progran will be $1.00 for adult; and 50 cents for students

At the present high school there are 54 teaching stations. The new structure proposes 55 teaching stations and calls for larger band/choir facilities, increased homemaking and agricultural areas, updated science labs, increased administrative area, more library space, additional room for the physical education department and in the cafeteria areas.
The new facility would not .be air conditioned. The Citizens Advisory Committee, who obtained input from the patrons of the district, expressed concern over the

No hubo clases. Las profesoras de las escuelas católicas de Uvalde, Del Rio e Eagle Pass asistieron a una conferencia de teología presentada por los Revs. Charles Miller y Robert Sargent de la Universidad de Santa Marit en San Antonio. La lectura se trato de como usar la biblia.

El Departamento de Bomberas de Uvalde lleva la apagadora a la escuela para hacer una demons-tracion a los niños como parte de la Semana de Prevención de Incendios octubre 7 al 14.

Cut ham into 10 slices (3/8 inch thick), and place on foil-lined jelly roll pan. Saute onion and celery in melted butter in skillet until tender. Combine bread cubes, broth, egg, parsley and sauteed vegetables in large bowl. Mix lightly but well.
Arrange stuffing between slices, leaving two slicqs between stuffing layers. Tie securely with string. Cover loosely with foil.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for one hour. Remove foil and continue baking one more hour or until stuffing registers 165 degrees F. on meat thermometer.
Remove from oven. Let stand 10 minutes. Makes six servings.
