For Frances Depauw Is not a boarding school for pampered darlings but a place whero the daughters of Mexican working people may learn to be of use to their families. All Is not ./ork at F.D.P. there are certain joys that a boarding school has to offer that one just can not find in public schooll Such as Tea parties at midnight v/hlle the teachers are asleep, and tho’ they are strictly female affairs, they make us feel gloriously wicked! Aside from these innocent pleasures, socials are arranged quite often with the boys of the Spanish American Inst. Halloween parties, Hay Day picnics, etc. In our school life tho girls have various scholastic honors to strive for: debating honors, vale- dictori".'”, editor of the school paper, etc. And athletically. There is one very special thing about De Pauw that other Schools do not offer, and that is tho spiritual guidance that must Come from a school with such a background* The school is supported by the Methodist Church and Its teachings have been an inspiration to many girls who hove lived there. The school has always tried to instill in her girls the desire to help others, particularly our own race. It is probably due to this training that tho Frances De Pauw Alumni has such philanthropic aims. The regular Alumni dues go to a loan fund, which is available to members in need, without requiring securities or signature, dispensing with red tápe. • The other noteworthy feature is the Mathias Scholarship Fund which exists vfco encourage and aid our girls to attend college.
