El Béisbol en Uvalde
Decada de 1930

Comiensa la decada de los treinta y el béisbol se engrándese en Uvalde.
En el ano 1930 a 1931, salió un team con nombre Los Indios”. Su estancia fue breve y aunque sus
victorias fueron numerosas, la que mas se recuerda es el triunfo de 3 a 2 sobre el equipo Coca Cola de San Antonio. La victoria fue el mérito, pero lo mas memorable es el festín que se tuvo después de el juego.
En este partido se le prometido a la iglesia católica la mitad después de los gastos. El sacerdote de la iglesia, en cambio, le prometió a los peloteros anunciar desde el pulpito el juego de béisbol. La entrada al juego fue algo que nunca se había visto, se pagaron los gastos y como lo prometido es deuda, se le dio a la iglesia su parte. Con el resto, como quedo buen botín, se festejo en grande, habiendo en abundancia refrescos, bien helados.
Se acaban ’’Los Indios”., el 1932.
El pueblo crece, la afición engrándese y en el ano de 1933 se forman los equipos de béisbol.
El Club LULAC que entonces tenia unos quince miembros, respaldo al team de “Los Indios”. Se les cambio el nombre a LULACS y se siguió adelante. Este team perduro hasta el ano 1936. Su carrera fue brillante. Se tuvo triunfos de gran mérito, entre otros sobre clubs de San Antonio, San Marcos y Kerrville.
EL otro team que co existió a la vez con lo; LULACS fue “Los 30-30” Este fue encabezado poi Johnny Santos quier apenas contaba con sus
veinte anos. En mayor parte sus peloteros eran nuevos y su primer ano no fue muy bueno. El animo no desbanecio, y para el fin de su carrera el 1936 se cubrió de gloria. En este ano no hubo ribal que no cayera ante ellos. Se ganaron 30 juegos sin sufrir derrota! Esto era lo máximo hasta esa época y asi lleno de orgullo a Uvalde.

Los deportistas que comensaron en los veintes pasan de su juventud y dejan el deporte. Vienen otros jovenes y aparece otro team. Este equipo se llamo “Las Estrellas” y fue dirijido por el Sr. Enrique Tenorio.
Aunque fue un team bien organizado, y jugo buen béisbol, no alcanzo la altura de sus anteriores.
Inca pie de su
gerente es que en el ano 1936, la ciudad derrumbo el parque deportivo. Las Estrellas se quedaron sin casa de juego. Siendo de arranque deportivo, y viendo asi el futuro, el Sr. Tenorio desenvolzo. Compro un terreno, lo limpio, finco un palco y dio un hogar a su novena. En este parque se celebraron juegos por diferentes teams hasta el ano 1953. Conmemorable fue el hecho de el Sr. Tenorio, el Hacer su propio parque deportivo. Se termina la decada 1930.
