Ocotber 25, 1979 EL UVALDE TIMES Page 7 Elección de bono escolar UHS Upcoming Activities La elección del bono con valor de $6.2 millones fue propuesta por el Concilio de Escuelas Publicas del Distrito Escolar Consolidado Independiente de Uvalde en una junta especial el dia 9 de octubre. Esta elección proveerá al Distrito Escolar Consolidado Independiente de Uvalde con una nueva escuela secundaria que hospedara tres grados y consistirá de 54 nuevos salones de clase. El proyecto también eliminara el problema de espacio, especialmente al nivel secundario. El bono, recibió el apoyo unánime del Concilio de Escuelas Publicas y sera puesto en elección especial el dia 10 de noviembre. Habra dos lugares para votar: en el Centro Cívico de Uvalde desde las 7 de la mañana hasta las 7 de la tarde, y en la cafeteria de la escuela en Batesville para los residentes del Condado de Zavala. La votación en Batesville también sera de las 7 de la manana hasta las 7 de la tarde. Burns Addition, La Quinta Apartments, South Park, South Camp Street and Castro Street will be picked up on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning Thursday, November 1, 1979. Landmark Apartments, Laurel Apartments and residences along Gamer Field Road (as far east as the Industrial Park) will be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays, beginning Friday November 2, 1979. Cenizo North subdivision, Windsong subdivision and other areas north of Antonio Street will be picked up on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning Saturday, November 3, 1979. The city expects some confusion in making such large adjustments to its routes and asks citizens to bear with them until the change is worked out. Garbage is to be placed in standard garbage cans of not more than 30 gallon capacity or plastic bags made for the purpose. Limbs leaves, grass clippings and items placed in containers other than the above will not be picked up. Garbage should be placed in the alley or if there is no alley, on the street right-of-way. The monthly charge for garbage service is $3.00. The service is not ottered outside the city limits. La votación por ausencia terminara el martes dia noviembre. 6 de Testing will be one activity in the Uvalde Schools this week as the 8th grade students at Uvalde Junior High take the California Achievement Tests Battery from 8:40 until 11:00 each Morning Monday through Thursday, and then Monday and ^Tuesday mornings of October 29 & 30. The freshman class at high school will take this same test during the first or second week in November. There will be no school on Friday as it is an Inservice Day for teachers and other personnel in the district. It is also the annual Texas State Teachers Association Convention in San Antonio, of which some of the Uvalde teachers will be attending. Saturday, October 27, will be a Marching Contest for the Uvalde High Band at Austin Westlake. Other activities of the week include various athletic events.
