C. B. International Rabbit Club Recognized
A little known group in Uvalde is taking civic duty very seriously, organizing and preparing themselves to be ready to help in the event of an emergency or disaster in our area. The C.B. International Rabbit Club of Uvalde recently obtained permission from the City of Uvalde to transmit locally and is now recognized as an emergency assistance group.

Su director y profesor es el Sr. Tony Zamarripa.

Mexico and now has locations worldwide including Texas, Miami, Florida; Washington, D.C., La Puente, California, London, England, Spain and Canada. The group is in daily worldwide contact and in Uvalde it has local contact 24 hours a day and stands ready to assist in with emergency assistance as well as relaying communication by C. B. radio.
During the disastrous earthquake in California, when
electricity and telephone unes were down, one of the Rabbit Club’s volunteer here in Uvalde used his C.B. band to assist California in providing communications. His efforts went unnoticed, unfortunately.
The International Rabbit Club of Uvalde operates on CB Channel 20 AM at a frequency of 27.205 mhz. The officers and their radio names arc Gabriel Flores, ’’Tejano”, President; John D. Bunjes, ’’Popeye", Vice
President; Alma Bunjes, "Lady Rose", Secretary/Interpreter (Spanish/English); Steve Stimpson, "Crazy Coyote”, Treasurer; Steward Gaddy, "Iceman", member and Santa Ana Flores, "Tejanita", member.
The club is just starting out and is inviting new members and volunteers who are willing to dedicate their work and time to serve the community and the world in the event of any emergency or disaster through
communications. Currently the group is initiating fund raising events and is accepting donations.
Alma Bunjes, secretary, is very proud of the determination the group has had in obtaining the recent recognition from City Manager Jack Caffall and Police Chief Vance Chisum. Ours is an international club and we arc proud of the fact that our member number 2000 is former President Ronald Reagon. Many famous celebrities are also
members. "Now that we have the documentation and permission to operate, we stand ready to serve the community and the world. Our members have special training and are specialized in special fields. They include firemen, a nurse/surgical technologist, EMS attendants and electronic/automotive specialist. We encourage anyone that is interested to contact us for more information."
