Recuerdos De La “Cruz Azul”

Después de dado la Honorífica en el mes de Agosto de 1921, el Consul Enrique Ruiz de San Antonio, Texas nos comunico que hiciéramos propaganda para formar un grupo de señoras y señoritas que se nombraría “Cruz Azul” y que era para vicitar y ayudar a familias enfermas.
Muy pronto se reunió un buen numero de Señoras y Señoritas v avisamos al Consul quien nos contesto que estuviéramos listos para cierto día que el vendría para formar la directiva y darles instrucciones sobre las obligaciones que tenian que desempeñar y el vestido que tenian que usar.
Quien es el autor? Don Alfredo M. Ibarra es nativo de Mexico pero vivid desde su infancia en Texas. Pasó muchos anos en Hondo y La Pryor, Texas en donde vivió muchas experiencias que ahora comparte con nosotros, relatos podrían gun dia en una una película, ya que en su modo de rela-

No tuvo contrincante, de manera que al hacer el juramento de desempeñar su cargo delante del Sr. Consul fue felicitada por toda la asamblea y ella muy emocionada dio' las gracias a todos. Después se nombro' una Vice-Presidenta, Secretaria y demas directiva.

Como la orden del vestido y el adorno de la cruz la mandó' a la Comisión Honorífica nosotros les avisamos a las muchachas y pronto hicieron sus vestidos y cuando llego' el Consul ellas lo recibieron vestidas de blanco y le dio' mucho gusto por el recibimiento y de ver gran numero de señoras y señoritas.
En las instrucciones que les diozel Sr. Consul, les dijo que tenian que ir de acuerdo con la Comisión Honorífica y en algunos casos que eran arreglar, que consultaran al Presidente o al Secretario y todo quedo bien arreglado

Entre los hombres que concurrian a todas las reuniones había un señor que se apellidaba Villa, tenia tres hijos que todo el tiempo estaban juntos en los bailes o en las juntas que hacíamos. El mayor era ronco, flaco y usaba la ropa muy amplia y al andar se veia muy curioso. Aparte de esa desventaja tenia un modo de hablar muy grocero y bravucón, y para hacer mas correcta la presen-tacióh a mis amables lectores era muy enamorado y celoso.
Al darle la respuesta que creí correcta, ella se fue' a sentar y yo iba a seguir mi camino cuando senti que me tocaban un brazo y al fijarme quien era lo conocí.
Me dio risa y le dije: “Si Teresa se casa contigo ya sabes que yo soy tu padrino. Vente, vámonos para adentro y que se te quite lo celoso.”
