PAGE 4 UHS Bands Win Fop Ratings At UIL Meet High Junior Awards The Uvalde School and High Bands received Sweepstakes this past week at the U.I.L. concert and sight reading contest in Fredericksburg. Last Thursday the Uvalde High School Sym-Bhonic and Concert ands ventured to F redericksbu rg where they performed three prepared numbers before three judges and read a tune they have never seen, of three for a panel different judges. If a high school band receives a First Division in their Region Marching Contest (held in the fall) then receive a First Division in both concert and sight reading they become a Sweepstakes Award Winner. The High School Symphonic Band did this again for the sixth year in a row. The High School Concert Band received a First Division rating in sight reading. The Junior High Bands will now concentrate on their program for the final concert in May. The High School Bands will continue competitionwith other bands by entering the McAllen Music Festival in April and the Six Flags Over Texas Music Festival in May.
