The Uvalde School board was a packed house last Tuesday night. Parents, teachers and custodians from the Uvalde Junior High were there to be heard.

You get them in the mail. You read them in newspapers and magazines. And you see them on T.V.
They are the pay-per-call 900 numbers, offering such services as weather forecasts, stock prices, sports scores, opinion polls, letters to Congress, legal advice, religious messages, romance and more.
There are more than 10,000 of them nationwide. While many of

To help customers understand their rights and Southwestern Bell Telephone’s role with respect to the billing of charges for 900-number services, the
2,857 county voters expressed their opinion on whether Uvalde County should have a new 96 bed jail and the majority said no. Final results showed 1,645 voted against the issuance of $3,150,000 of certificates of obligation for the new jail and 1,212 voted in favor. Absentee votes cast against the expenditure were 354 and 258 voted in favor.
