They are Michael Garcia, ACSW, a medical social a medical social worker and his wife Joan P. Garcia, RN, MSN, a registered nurse and certified Lamaze instructor. The Garcia’s moved to Crystal City a few weeks ago from Gatesville, Texas where Mr. Garcia was employed at the Texas Youth Council’s Gatesville State School for Boys. Mrs. Garcia worked ICU/CCU at the Coryell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Garcia is a graduate of Waco High School, Howard Payne University(BA) and Our Lady of the Lake University (MSW). He has been employed by the Texas Youth Council since 1972 having served in various capacities throughout the state.. Mrs. Garcia is a graduate of Shamrock High School, Texas Woman’s University (RN,BSN), and the University of Texas (MSN). She has worked in several hospitals in Texas specializing in intensive and coronary care inservice education, and general patient care. The Garcia’s will be involved in offering a number of services together and individually at the Centro de Salud. Together they will be team teaching the highly successful Lamaze method of prepared childbirth. In the Lamaze method couples lean psychological ^conditioning and exercises in weekly classes during the last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy.
