Se aproximan las elecciones...
Esta usted registrado para votar? Si no lo esta, vale mas que lo hagan de una vez. Las elecciones se aproximan y es importante que usted este listo para “dar su opinion”. Es tanto mas fácil y mejor, elejir a los representantes que sean honestos y justos, asi como capaces de hacer el trabajo— que después tener que ir a averiguar con ellos-- ya sea en la corte de comisionados, concilio de la ciudad, directiva escolar, o del colegio, legislatura estatal o el congreso.
Verdaderamente somos gente malagradecida cuando tenemos la bendición de vivir bajo un gobierno democrático— nosotros podemos escojer a nuestros lideres, determinar que leyes queremos, como se gastara nuestro dinero que pagamos en impuestos- - y muchas veces lo desperdiciamos todo al no votar. Piensen en la gente del mundo que no tienen voz en su gobierno. Algunos dejamos todas las deciciones a otra gente de puro decidía inexcusable. Por favor regístrense a tiempo y por favor voten!
Buena Revisada...
El trabajo de revisar las cuentas que paga la ciudad a veces se ve como “una lata” por algunos miembros del concilio, pero algunos de ellos si los estudian muy bien
antes de ser aprovados. Yo prefiero tener con consejal preguntón como Bill Mitchell preguntar porque se compraron tantas pilas de batería que mas tarde darnos cuenta de un escándalo como el que ocurrió en Laredo en el cual los empleados de la ciudad compraban llantas y baterías para sus carros personales, a costillas de la ciudad.
El pertenecer a un grupo...
Cuantos de ustedes tienen la fortuna de pertenecer a un club, o grupo con el cual a usted le agrada pasar el tiempo y trabajar para una buena obraí En esta columna he mencionado varios grupos, pero el ultimo que visite y que me emociono fue el que organizo varias actividades en la Capilla de San José ubicada en la pasada Navidad en la Capilla de San José ubicada en la Calle East Garden. Este grupo es mas como un organización del barrio que son unidos por el carino que tienen para la capillita que aunque había sido un poco olvidada, siempre guarda gratos recuerdos para mucha gente.
Para la “posada” que tuvieron alli las señoras de la capilla juntaron a los ñiños del barrio y les hicieron una fiesta con piñata y les regalaron bolsitas de fruta y dulces. Para la celebración del “Levantamiento del

Nino Jesus”, o sea el dia que llegan los Santos Reyes a adorar al Nino Jesus (el 6 de enero), los parroquianos de la Capilla reunieron a mucha gente y tan entusiástica estuvo la reunion que el Rev. Leo Martínez les dijo que estava muy impresionado con su devoción y amor a la capilla. Les dijo que si les duraba el espíritu el favorecería celebrar la missa allí los domingos. El grupo se alegro mucho.
Los Coyotes en el Superbowl....
A mi me gusta mucho el fútbol. Cuando yo era alumna de la escuela superior de Uvalde saltaba y gritaba durante todo el juego. Pero últimamente ya tuve toda la fútbol que puedo soportar. Mi yarda necesita limpiesa, también mi carro, y me siento muy ignorada (le voy a escribir a Dear Debbie( Y todo por la mentada fútbol. Para empeorar la cosa, no se me queda que pelotero juega con cual partido y mi esposo y mi hijo no me dejan entrar a sus platicas de fútbol. Inventaron una historia que yo dije que los Coyotes hiban a jugar en el Superbowl!________________________
Uvalde Estates on
Commissioners Agenda
The question of the paving of Uvalde Estates roads will again be on the agenda at the Uvalde County Commissioners meeting next Monday, January 14. The meeting is held at the Uvalde County Courthouse at 10 a.m.
Also on the agenda is a discussion of the operations and maintenance agreement on the Leona Watershed between Uvalde County and Soil Conservation Service.
Other items listed include:
♦Uvalde Boxing Club Self Help Program County representation on
the board of the Community Council of Southwest Texas, Inc.
♦Amendment to child welfare contract between Uvalde County and the Texas Départment of Hureian Resources.
♦Request from Van Pelt heirs to clear title to Bear Creek School Land.
♦Consideration of filing deeds and agreements for deed if dated before January 1, 1980, when new subdivision ordinances became effective.
♦Approval of County officials and employees to be paid on a salary basis.
♦Acceptance of bids on Sheriff’s car.

Election Time in sight...
Are you registered to vote? If you aren’t, you better get down and do it. Election time approaches and you better be prepared to have a “say so”. Its so much easier to elect representatives that are honest and fair and capable of doing the job than to have to go fight them later--- be it the county commissioners court, city hall, school or college board, state legislators or congress.
We are truly ungrateful people if we have the blessing of a democratic system of government- we can choose our leaders, determine what laws we want, how our tax money shall be spent— and then waste all those privileges by not voting. Think of all the people of the world who have no voice in their government. Some of us leave all the decision making up to other people out of pure unexcusable neglect. Please register on time and please vote!
Good Checking...
Looking over the monthly bills of the City Council is looked on as a “chore” but some of our city councilmen do study them carefully before they are approved. I would much rather have a scrutinizing city councilman like Bill Mitchell wonder why so many flashlight batteries are being bought than come to find out later about a scandal such as Laredo had not too long ago where tires and car batteries for private citizens (city employees) were being bought out and passed as city expenses.

How many of you have the fortune of belonging to a club, or group that you enjoy being with and working together for a good cause? Estimada Editora:
Cuando los Jaycees de Uvalde recibieron el pedido de ayudar a un joven y asu familia con una enorme deuda de hospital y medicinas, no sabia que organización tan hermosa teníamos. Dentro de dos semanas logramos reunir $3,000 para la familia de Joe Sepeda.
Con la ayuda de nuestra gran comunidad en que vivimos, incluyendo al Departamento de Recursos Humanos nuestro proyecto fue todo un éxito y deseamos darle las gracias a cada uno de las personas que donaron
todo lo que pudieron para llevar acabo la comida de barbacoa que tuvo lugar en los Terrenos de Feria de Uvalde el 16 de diciembre.
Nos ayudo tanta gente en el proyecto que tal vez haigamos dejado fuera a alguien en las cartas de
gracias que enviamos.
Por esto pedimos disculpas y esperamos que esto no les impida ayudarnos en el futruo en otros proyectos de los Jaycees.
Como ustedes saben nuestro mayor interes es de ayudar a la gente que necesita ayuda en nuestra

Garden Street. Its more like a neighborhood organization and its binding force is a love for the little chapel that holds dear memories for them.
For the “posada” held there this past Christmas the. ladies gathered the children of the barrio and gave .■ them a piñata party and passed bags of fruit and candy, v For the “Levantamiento del Nino”, or the celebrating of the day the Three Wise Men arrived to adore the > Baby Jesus (January 6), the ladies again gathered a large number of parishioners and so enthusiastic was the gathering that Rev. Leo Martinez told them he w'as deeply impressed with their devotion and love for the little chapel. He told them that if their spirit held up, he would favor celebrating mass there again on Sundays. The group was delighted.
The Coyotes at the Superbowl?
I like football. I used to scream and jump and down in the bleachers when I was in high school during the football games. But lately I’ve had all I can take of the game. My yard needs working; the car needs to be cleaned and I’m being ignored too much. And all because of football. To top things off I can’t remember which player plays with what team so my husband and my son tease me out of every football conversation. They made up a story about me saying the Coyotes were going to make it to the superbowl!
I did’nt help matters too much when 1 told Richard accidentally he ought to buy himself a hunting reel with the gift certificate he received for Christmas.... Oh.

(Supimos que el joven Joe i Sepeda ya se encuentra de
regreso en su casa con su madre, la Sra. Manuela Sepeda y a todos sus amigos les dara mucho gusto saber que ya se fe$ta recuperando. En estos últimos dias ya no ha tenido que recibir ;*el oxigeno que necesitaba. Joe no podra regresar-al colegio este semestre pero Dios mediante piensa regresar el proximo ano escolar.
Aunque Joe si se e^ta mejorando se nos informa que todavía esta débil y rio puede recibir visitas. La familia nos avisara tdn pronto que el doctor le permita recibir visitas.)v
