Last week, by a vote of 368 to 25, the House voted to launch a major synthetic fuels

I breakfasted last week with the Independent Oil and Gas Producers’ spokesman and have checked with a number of the major companies. I am told that the normal oil well today produced
about 20 to 22% of its capacity when pumped and flooding with water will bring up a-bout 8 per cent more. Other measures, such as use of detergents, chemicals, steam or fire will recover 10 per cent more in oil that has clung to the underground rock and sand. While 10 per cent may not seem significant, we should realize that is one-third more than pump-
