Children should be encouraged to look up locations on the globe after reading stories and current events as well as listening to the news on radio or television. An atlas containing detailed maps of the United States and the world is excellent to supplement information on specific states and countries. A thesaurus is a book recommended for high school students. The book contains an extensive list of words with their synonyms (words that mean the same) and their antonyms (words that mean the opposite). This assists the student in learning vocabulary, writing reports or essays as well as reading comprehension.
The above suggestions are to encourage you to buy educational gifts that help your child to develop mentally, socially and creatively. You may have other excellent ideas for Christmas gifts to accomplish the same purpose.

The Uvalde county jail has a capacity of 28 prisoners and is has usually 100 % occupancy. There are no facilities for female prisoners so they are transported to the Zavala County jail in Crystal City. The county uses electronic monitoring, which allows criminals that cannot be housed in jail to live at their residences by wearing a device on an ankle or wrist. The device is monitored at the jail and limits the movement from the prisoner^ residence. He explained that presently the county jail does not have state certification but that it could be possible that now that the latest citings on staff regulations had been taken care of, that certification could be obtained.
