Cuando los maestros pasan más de su tiempo corrigiendo el corportamiento de los niños, les queda poco tiempo para enseñar. El buen comportamiento empieza en la casa. Aqui les vamos a ofrecer diez formas en que usted puede usar para ayudar en el mejoramiento de la disciplina de nuestros niños. 1. Conosca y apoye los reglamentos escolares. 2. Enseñele a su niño/a a que ustedes están interesados en lo que ellos hagan en la escuela. Pregúnteles acerca de sus actividades. 3. Hable con sus maestras acerca del comportamiento de sus hijos en la escuela. 4. Acentúe la importancia de una buena disciplina con sus niño. 5. Sea un buen modelo para sus hijos. 6. Enséñeles a sus hijos el valor del respeto mutuo. 7. Dele a sus hijos la oportunidad de que hagan sus propias decisiones en cosas que ha ellos les afecte. 8. Asegúrense de que sus niños coman adecuadamente. Una mala nutrición puede causar problemas de disciplina en los niños. 9. Observe el comportamiento de sus hijos en la casa. 10. Si algún problema de disciplina ocurre con sus hijos, hable con ellos. The traditional parade will take place on Saturday Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. and includes the Alzafar Shriners, Schools, commercial entries, businesses and many beautiful floats. The entry deadline is Oct. 1. so call the Chamber office early for an entry form. For vollevball enthusiasts there will be a tournament on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. on the Leona Riverbed next to Memorial Park. Interested persons should call Esmy Torres at 278-8975 for entry information. The Fajita Cook-Off is scheduled for Sat. Oct. 12 at Memorial Park. A $150 cash prize for the 1st Place team is being offered and trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Ernest Santos is the coordinator for this event. Also on Saturday Jhere will be a 5 mile run, a 1 mile walk and 1 mile kids run, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 12. These will begin and end at the Uvalde City Pool. Pre-registration is $9.00 and $14.00 the morning of the event. Rob Fowler is in charge of this event. For country and western fans, there will be a dance on Sat. night with Mark Collie at the Purple Sage. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the dance is from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Vale Rodriguez & Ramblin' Fever will be the warm up band and will begin performing at 8:30. For Tejano music lovers, popular Ram Herrera will be performing on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m.. Tickets are $10.00 pre-sale and $12.00 at the door and are available at the Chamber office. Those interested in setting up a food & drink booth should contact the Chamber quickly as spaces are filling up fast. A maximum of 2 food items/booth and no more than 2 duplicate food items will be sold on the midway. The fee is $55 for 2 days until Sept. 20th and prices will be $75 for a 10x10 booth space. Arts & Crafts booths are still available on a first come first first paid basis so those interested should come by the Chamber as soon as possible. Booths for the Kid’s Komer are made available to non-profit organizations. 10% of the net earnings will go to the Chamber and the remaining to the This I Have to organizations. For those that don’t run, play volleyball, dance or cook fajitas, there will be a horse shoe/washer pitch on Sunday, October 13 at the Memorial Park, The Horse Shoe Tourney starts at 11 a.m. and the Washer Pitch at 1:30 P-m John Aviles is directing the Washer Pitch and Arturo Guzman is in charge of the Horse Shoe Pitch.
