The Uvalde Times was a bilingual newspaper published weekly, in Uvalde, Texas by Olga Rodriguez. Some of his publications were biweekly and monthly. The publication of El Uvalde Times began on November 13, 1977 mainly in Spanish and some articles were offered in Spanish and English translations. According to the April 13, 1991 issue, the publication of El Uvalde Times was discontinued from March 1980 to April 1991. The May 1992 issue of El Uvalde Times announces the termination of the newspaper. The Uvalde Times’s subtitle “El único periódico bilingüe en el Wintergarden” translates to “The only bilingual newspaper in the Wintergarden”. The Uvalde Times published news and information relevant to the Mexican American community in Uvalde and the region. Community civic engagement, social justice, and the academic education of children and youth were the focus of the newspaper. The Uvalde Times included editorial, social, sports, correspondence to the editor, community notices, and recipes sections, among others.
