La Linterna de Diógenes, “Independent and quarrelsome Newspaper”, was a weekly founded by Adolfo Torres in 1867 and published in Spanish in Saltillo, Coahuila, every Friday (not to be confused with its homonym in Oaxaca). The newspaper published articles on national and international politics, as well as legal lawsuits and poems. Ideologically, it was liberal, supported Benito Juarez’ government and criticized the episcopal influence on society.
