El Monitor was a weekly, Spanish-language, newspaper published in Los Angeles, California, by I. Larraguibel and later Alonzo G. Sanchez. The newspaper covered local, national and world news. It included sections on Mexican news, court and political announcements, and paid advertisement. El Monitor declared itself as the most popular Mexican newspaper published in California that was read by more wealthy and influential people than any other similar publication, and as the organ of the Mexican population in Southern California. It claimed to be the most popular publication in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico of its kind. It was published on Saturdays in the morning.
